IRIS IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM WITH STEREO FACIAL RECOGNITION
Iris-2000
Iris-2000 - I
Product Description
q Iritech’s Iris-2000 uses stereo facial recognition in conjunction with iris identification to view a person’s face from two different angles.
q By using facial recognition technology, the Iris-2000 can be quickly locate, focus and center upon the iris image.
q After the image of the iris is captured, it is compared with the registered image of the person’s iris.
q While Iritech’s combination of stereo facial recognition with iris identification is built upon a complex software algorithm, the automatic nature of the technology is highly user-friendly.
q The Iris-2000 has been validated in laboratory tests, has undergone final development, and is now available for integration into commercial applications.
q Iritech’s product has lower price for dual iris and stereo facial recognition capabilities versus for the competition’s single iris system with no facial recognition features.

Iris-2000 – III
Iritech’s technology is superior to competitor’s on several significant fronts.
Competitive Advantages - I
q Variable Multisector Method : Iritech’s technology produces significantly more accurate results because of its ability to consider the effects of eyelashes and eyelids on iris images
q Integration with Stereo Facial Recognition: Iritech creates the most accurate form of biometric security by integrating facial recognition technology with iris identification algorithm. This integration allows Iritech to center and capture both iris images more quickly, as well as to improve accuracy by more than 100-fold
Iris-2000 - IV
Competitive Advantages - II
q Mapping of Both Eyes: Iritech’s technology also increases accuracy of results by mapping both eyes, in contrast to the previous generation of static imaging technologies that rely on information from just one eye.
q Focus on Permanent Portion of Iris: While previous technologies have assumed that the iris structure does not change over time, Iritech’s technology make allowances for the fact that the iris structure may change as a result of aging, disease and medication.
q Lacuna, ANW, and Pupil Use: In contrast to the competing iris identification technology, Iritech’s technology is not fooled by non-living eyes, as Iritech uses the shape and position of the lacuna, ANW geometric (shape around the border of the inner iris structure), and pupil movement.

Iris Identification with Stereo Face Recognition System
IRIS 2000
Iris2000 (Iris Identification with Stereo Face Recognition system) is shown in Fig. 1.

Fig. 1.1: Iris2000 (M-type)

Fig. 1.2: Iris2000 (T-type)
There are 2 stereo face cameras for “positioning and face recognition”, and 2 iris cameras for “iris identification” inside of the Iris2000, as shown in Fig. 2.

Fig. 2: Inside of the Iris2000
Iris2000 allows a subject to approach the mirror which automatically triggers the authentication process. The subject is then instructed by audio output to position the face appropriately. The facial recognition cameras promptly center the subject’s face and then trigger the Iris cameras to record the image of the both Iris. The audio output assists the subject by indicating direction that the subject requires to its head. Iris 2000 is the most effortless & rapid authentication process in the iris biometrics marketplace.
Functional Diagram of IRIS 2000.
The hardware component of IRIS-2000 system includes several subunits providing Automatic detection of approaching subject (infrared), Illumination of face and eyes by light, Voice guiding system for accurate positioning of face and capturing centered face and iris images.
Audio amplifier & speaker

The following sub-units are in the hardware unit of IRIS-2000:
· Approach Sensor – IR sensor can detect presence of subject in front of IRIS 2000, and roughly estimating distance to the subject. If the subject is in the desired region, send voice message and make IRIS 2000 system start to work.
· Left and Right Illuminators – White light and infrared light illuminators for subject’s face and eyes providing illumination with controlled intensity by IR light with wavelength range 600 – 940 nm;
· Left and Right Face Cameras – B&W cameras for stereo face image capture and accurate measurement of distance to subject (using stereo image analysis)
· Left and Right Eye Cameras – B&W cameras for iris image capture.
· Special mirror with Infrared Filter
· Audio Amplifier and Speaker are used for voice instructions
· Controller Board;
· 12V DC power supply
There are a number of interconnections between IRIS-2000 unit and Computer. Video signals (face and iris images) from four cameras are connected to two frame capturing hardware units in Computer. Stereo image of face and images of both irises are captured during identification process. Customized frame capturing drivers are developed for acquiring images without missing any frames.
The unit is controlled via conventional RS-232 serial interface and voice guidance signal is generated by conventional sound card, “Line Out” signal should be connected to the unit for this purpose.
The developed Iris Identification and Stereo Face Recognition software provides control of all the images input process, registration of new client and identification in two modes: One-To-One and One-To-Many.
Technical Specification:
Image Capture Zone: 280~370 mm from front panel (Customizable depending on application)
Subject Detection Distance: 600 mm from front panel (Customizable)
Images capturing time: within 2 seconds;
Registration: need to capture images for 2~3 times
Time of one-to-one recognition: 0.003 seconds;
Power Supply: DC 12V, 2A;
Dimensions: (W) 210 x (H) 420 x (D) 180 (mm);
Weight: 7Kg (Approx.);
Operating temperature: 0~40 degree C;
By incorporating the stereo facial recognition system, the Iris2000 performs the image capture faster than the stand-alone Iris products of the past decade. Both Iris images are captured simultaneously, and due to the video nature of the image capturing mechanism, a non-living iris can be detected as fraudulent.

IRIS 2000
•• Stereo Facial Recognition
• Mapping of both eyes
• Use of permanent portion of the iris
• Multi-Sector Variable Method
• Patented
• Inexpensive
• Second Mover Advantages
The other advantages of the Iris 2000 include:
1 Higher accuracy. With layered biometrics this application has improved the accuracy of the Iritech iris identification algorithm approximately 100-fold.
2 Cross-Reference Capabilities: With two biometric databases the customer can develop a dedicated database of registered individuals and cross-reference this database with a database of facial images for known criminals provided by the authorities. This cross-reference function would occur in downtime.
3 Low Cost: The Iris 2000 despite its four camera system remains an inexpensive biometric application as a result of product engineering that has ensured high accuracy authentication without expensive iris cameras.
4 Face recognition application would work even if there are no registered iris images as a recognition capability to ensure that unauthorized subjects are not permitted to enter a secured area.
SECURITY SYSTEM AT ENTRANCE
“FACE 2000” system

The FACE 2000 is mounted on doorways/metal detector archways and serves as a recognition/surveillance tool. As a person approaches the doorways/metal detector archway, they are asked to pause for 1~2 seconds to pass it. This is the best opportunity to capture the stereo face images for the authentication. The database is imported from law enforcement, FBI, CIA etc. and persons that are undesirables are kept from entering the premises un-noticed. This is a surveillance tool as it does not slow to an access entry system, but rather triggers a security alert and to the appropriate security personnel as the person is still in motion through the security check point.
This patent pending technology allows organizations at airports, secure government buildings to augment their existing surveillance systems, with a three dimensional facial recognition application. As a person approaches the metal detector archway, they are asked to pause for 1 second to allow for stereo face image capture, the authentication then takes place as the next person approaches. By the time the first person has collected his/her bags, wallet etc. the authentication is complete and security has been triggered to prevent the subject from proceeding further.
The advantage of this technology as compared to the other facial recognition applications on the market lies in the stereo format which is the manner in which the images are captured. This allows for increased accuracy due to additional three dimensional mapping that the dual camera system permits. Also, the FACE 2000 builds on the existing security clearance process which has the necessary security personnel already in place.
